Tuesday's Tidbits I have three children. When people ask me if I plan to have a fourth, I tell them I'm still thinking about it. But actually, I have a moderate amount of fear that I'll never be a mother of four. In my more paranoid moments, I fear becoming the laughing stock of my family when I end up pregnant with twins next time. You see, my mother has two older sisters who are identical twins. She also has a younger brother and sister who are fraternal twins. Yes, my grandmother had one set of each, and two singletons, one of which was my mother, to round out the family. Top 10 Reasons 40 Doesn't Suck

When I turned 30, I discovered that “milestone” birthdays are just culturally imposed hogwash. I was happy to turn 30…it was almost like I was truly an adult, finally. Wife, mom, author, seminary graduate…with lots more like it to come. And it always helped that my BFF shared my exact birthday, so if it did get tough there was always someone there to join the misery. So now it's my 40th birthday. It's called hermeneutics : the rules by which we analyze scripture so that we can then apply the commands, principles, and timeless truths found within it.
